Black Mountain Minerals designs, fabricates and supplies chrome washplants built entirely in-house at our Brits, North West Province facility. Our plants use gravity spiral concentrator technology — a proven, chemical-free process that separates chrome ore by density and particle size through a series of rougher, scavenger and cleaner spirals.
We offer two standard configurations: a 24 TPH modular pilot plant requiring no civil works and fully relocatable on a crane truck and trailer, and a 100+ TPH commercial plant installed on a permanent concrete slab with conveyor feed, vibrating screen, dual-tier spiral banks and an integrated pump room with water recirculation.
Every plant is sandblasted and coated in-house prior to delivery, and commissioning is included as a standard part of supply. Custom throughput and spiral configurations are available on request.
| Specification | Modular Pilot | Commercial |
|---|---|---|
| Throughput | 24 TPH | 100+ TPH |
| Civil Works | None required | Concrete slab |
| Feed System | Direct feed | Incline conveyor + vibrating screen |
| Spiral Config | Multi-grade (R/S/C) | Dual-tier spiral banks |
| Pump Room | No | Yes, with recirculation |

| Commissioning | Single mobilisation | Phased erection |
Not every mining project demands a new build. Black Mountain Minerals provides a complete turnkey refurbishment and relocation service for existing chrome washplants — recovering significant value from idle or underperforming plant at a fraction of the cost of new equipment.
Our process begins with a site assessment and mechanical condition audit, followed by planned de-establishment using our own crane and heavy haulage fleet. Once at our Brits facility, plant components undergo mechanical refurbishment, spiral replacement or reconfiguration, structural repairs, and full sandblasting and recoating before re-erection at the new site.
We have delivered this service on live operational sites with active mining activities — maintaining zero lost-time incidents (LTI) throughout. Our project at Mooinooi, North West Province, demonstrates this capability: a full de-establishment, upgrade to tailings-optimised spiral modules, and re-erection using a 50-tonne mobile crane on a live chrome tailings site.
Black Mountain Minerals operates its own logistics and heavy haulage fleet — a deliberate structural decision that eliminates third-party dependency, reduces project costs, and gives us complete control over plant mobilisation and site delivery timelines.
Our fleet includes crane trucks and link trailers purpose-configured for washplant component transport, as well as a 50-tonne mobile crane for heavy lift operations on both new builds and refurbishment projects. This fleet capability is central to our modular pilot plant offering, which can be fully deployed and demobilised without external contractors.
Industrial surface preparation and protective coating is a core competency within Black Mountain Minerals — developed through the founding director's background in the SADC coatings industry via Epoxy Emporium. Every plant we manufacture is sandblasted and coated in-house at our Brits facility before delivery, ensuring full corrosion protection and coating integrity from day one.
This service is also offered as a standalone contract to mining and industrial clients requiring surface preparation, primer application, and multi-coat protective finishing to industrial specification. We work across carbon steel, mild steel, and structural sections commonly found in mining and processing environments.
Black Mountain Minerals holds active export credentials and trades across five mineral commodity classes: chrome, coal, copper, antimony and tin. Our trading activity includes both raw ore and beneficiated products — chrome concentrate, RB2 coal and RB3 coal — allowing us to participate across the value chain depending on buyer specification.
Our export number (CU25174750) is active and structured for cross-border commodity trade. All trading activity operates under full VAT and tax registration and through our FNB business banking account, supporting transparent and compliant commercial transactions with domestic and international counterparties.
Black Mountain Minerals holds a substantial Zimbabwe mining portfolio centred on the Epoch Mine — a 1,000-hectare gold property comprising historically productive gold formations currently undergoing active prospecting and development.
The Epoch Mine property is valued at USD 35M+ and represents the Zimbabwe leg of the group's long-term growth strategy. The company is pursuing systematic claim pegging, geological prospecting, and in-country partnership development to advance the property toward production-scale extraction.
